Single Storey Rear Extension in South Elmsall – Open Plan Kitchen & Internal Alterations

This single storey rear extension in South Elmsall, Pontefract was completed as a design and build project, with drawings and planning handled by Enhanced Building Plans.

The aim of the project was to expand the rear of the property to create a large open plan kitchen and snug area, improving the flow of the home while adding additional functional spaces.

As part of the renovation, the existing kitchen was converted into a utility room and shower room, allowing the main living area to become a more social and practical space for everyday family life. 

The project started in June and was completed in January, delivering a modern open-plan layout that significantly improved the usability of the home.

Work began with the structural preparation for the new extension before progressing through brickwork, roofing, and internal structural alterations. As the build progressed, the internal knock-through created space for the new kitchen and snug area while the former kitchen was reconfigured into a utility and shower room.

The Finished Extension

The completed extension provides a spacious open-plan kitchen and snug area connected to the garden through large bifold doors.
